Privacy and collection notice

How Legacy Psychology collects, uses and protects your personal and health information when you book with us online.

Who we are

Legacy Psychology, Suite 1, 28 Outram Street, West Perth WA 6005. You can contact us about privacy at info@legacypsychology.com.au.

What we collect

  • Your name, date of birth, contact details, address and an emergency contact.
  • Funding details you choose to give us: Medicare card, GP referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan details, private health fund membership, NDIS number and plan manager, or your employer's details.
  • Anything you tell us about why you're seeking help. This is health information.
  • Your appointment history and payment status. We never see or store your card number.

Why we collect it

To book and provide your sessions, to claim Medicare rebates or invoice your plan manager, NDIA or employer when you ask us to, to send you confirmations and reminders, and to meet our legal and professional record keeping obligations. If you don't give us the details a funding type needs, we can still see you, but we may not be able to claim on your behalf.

Where it's stored

Your information is stored and processed only in Australia, in Amazon Web Services data centres in Sydney and Melbourne. Medicare, health fund and NDIS numbers are encrypted.

Who we share it with

  • Our practice management system, which holds your clinical record.
  • Stripe, our payment processor, receives your card details directly when you pay. Stripe sees a booking reference and the amount, never your health information.
  • Medicare, the NDIA, your plan manager, your health fund or your employer, only when you choose that funding type and only what they need to pay for your session.

We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.

Seeing and correcting your information

You can update most details yourself in your profile. To ask for a copy of your records or a correction, email us. We'll respond within 30 days.

Complaints

If you're concerned about how we've handled your information, contact us first. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
